Ashok Leyland (Dheeraj Hinduja, Executive Chairman) will start manufacturing EV buses in two months in Lucknow. Although Hinduja Group has already completed the facility in 18 months, it is also considering additional investments into renewable energy projects, such as those in Jhansi and Mirzapur, and the digital connection enhancements in the state. Ashok Leyland, led by Dheeraj Hinduja, in Lucknow, is set to start commercial production of electric buses in two months and the Hinduja group informed the government of Uttar Pradesh about the same. A group delegation attended a meeting with Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh where it was confirmed that the EV manufacturing unit was built in a record time of 18 months. One of the government representatives also said that the EV plant was only part of the talks that were happening at that time.
Hinduja Group has options for strategic investments in varied fields such as electric mobility, EV charging infrastructure, media, renewable energy, insurance and financial services. This team was headed by Dr. S.K. Chaddha, the Senior Advisor to the Group; Ravi Chawla, the MD and CEO of Gulf Oil; and Vynsley Fernandes, the MD of HGS Limited. The firm also applied for more land to allow its planned expansions. The Hinduja Group announced its intentions to build 340 of power in Uttar Pradesh in the renewable energy sector. Some of the major proposals are the 600 MW project in Jhansi and a 1,000 MW pump storage project in Mirzapur. These initiatives are in line with the overall diversification of energy in the state. In the meantime, the group's digital wing, NXTDIGITAL, outlined the plans to enhance digital connectivity in underperforming areas in the state. The developments follow the fact that Uttar Pradesh is still in the process of establishing itself as a manufacturing and investment centre, especially in the green and digital economy.
